Buffs Roll Past Texas A&M-Kingsville to Clinch the LSC Series, 11-1

CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M plated four runs in the first inning and never looked back on Super Bowl Sunday as they picked up an 11-1 run-rule victory over the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. WT clinches their second ever LSC series at Nolan Ryan Field, the first since March 9-10, 2001. 
 
The Buffs jumped out to an early lead as Landon Gaber singled to left with two outs to plate Rodric Black followed by a Seth Ochoa RBI double down the left field line to score Ryan Camacho, WT wasn't done yet as Elijah Batista singled thru the left side to drive in a pair to make it 4-0.
 
The Hogs answered in the home half of the first as Jacob Rosales singled to center with no outs to score Dalton Kramer, the Buffs made a move to the bullpen as Tai Phetluangsy headed to the mound and forced a double play ball followed by a strikeout to keep it 4-1.
 
WT added to their lead in the top of the third as Glenn Noronha singled thru the right side to plate Ochoa followed by a Kingsville error to score Batista, Kyle Micklus would single to left to drive in Noronha for the 7-1 lead.
 
The Buffs extended their lead in the fourth as Josh Zapata singled thru the left side with no outs to plate Ochoa followed by a Noronha RBI single and an RBI groundout from Black to drive in Batista, Micklus drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single thru the right side for the 11-1 lead.
 
Phetluangsy picked up the win (2-1) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his 3.0 innings of relief.
 
The Buffs return to Wilder Park next weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series against the #25 Hilltoppers of St. Edward's beginning on Friday night with first pitch set for 5:00 p.m. in Canyon. SEU has started the season 3-3 overall, taking three-of-four from Texas A&M-Kingsville on opening weekend before dropping a pair to Colorado State-Pueblo this past Thursday and Friday in Austin.
