CANYON. Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M struggled from the floor on Sunday afternoon as the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas shot 53.3% from the field in a 80-44 Lone Star Conference victory at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas.
 
Kyla Kane led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Wellington product went 4-of-11 from the field including 2-of-4 from deep and 2-of-2 from the line for a team-high 12 points to go along with two rebounds, one block and a steal. 
Claire Graham chipped in seven points with three boards while 
Taylor Haggan led the way defensively with six rebounds and five points.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 17-of-55 (30.9%) from the floor including 3-of-15 (20%) from behind the arc and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line with 27 total rebounds (seven offensive, 20 defensive), five assists, 15 turnovers, one block and nine steals in the loss.
 
Shelby Ray and Janessa Payne led the way for the Javelinas as they scored 13 points each, Ray also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double while Payne dished out four assists. TAMUK went 32-of-60 (53.3%) from the field including 11-of-24 (45.8%) from deep and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the stripe with 41 rebounds, 22 assists, 14 turnovers, four blocks and six steals.
 
The Lady Buffs close out their South Texas road trip on Tuesday afternoon as they take on the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International with tipoff set for 12:00 p.m. in Laredo.
