Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs hit the road for the final time during the regular season this weekend as they head to South Texas for Lone Star Conference action beginning on Friday night against Texas A&M International (5:00 p.m.) followed by a Saturday matchup at Texas A&M-Kingsville (2:00 p.m.)

STORYLINES
- West Texas A&M continues the defense of their Lone Star Conference Championships this weekend as they are the lone unbeaten team atop of the league standings
- The Lady Buffs remained sixth in the newest edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon
- WT ranks 7th in the nation in attack percentage (.277), 27th in kills per set (13.76), 29th in assists per set (12.63) and 37th in blocks per set (2.27). Taytum Stow is 34th in the nation in blocks per set (1.19) while sitting 40th in total blocks (93.0). Angelina Oliver ranks 26th in the country in attack percentage (.371)Â
- The Lady Buffs are currently on a 13-match win streak dating back to a September 20th loss to Angelo State in Dallas in four sets. Since that match, the Lady Buffs have dropped just two of 41 sets played with 11 matches going the minimum of three sets.
- The 13 consecutive wins is tied for the seventh longest active streak in Division II Volleyball: Ferris State (24), Point Loma (19), Spring Hill (18), St. Cloud State (17), Cal Poly Pomona (16) and West Florida (16)

TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
The Dustdevils enter the weekend with an overall record of 7-14 with a 4-8 mark in Lone Star Conference play following road losses to Midwestern State (3-0) and Texas Woman's (3-0) last weekend to extend their losing skid to five matches. TAMIU is 3-4 so far this season inside of the Kinesiology & Convocation Center in Laredo.

Tammie Jimenez is in her first season at the helm of the Texas A&M International volleyball program. She came to Laredo following time as the head coach at Midland College, winning a share of the WJCAC title, the NJCAA Region 5 West Championship, and a memorable appearance in the 2010 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship Tournament.

Friday night will be the 10th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Dustdevils as WT holds a 8-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 2008. TAMIU is 0-5 all-time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse including a straight-set loss to the Lady Buffs back on September 6th during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic.

TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
The Javelinas enter the weekend with a record of 12-11 including a 4-8 mark in league action. TAMUK is 6-4 so far this season inside of the Steinke Center, the Javelinas went on the road last week as they fell to Texas Woman's (3-1) before bouncing back with a four-set win over Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon.

Tanya Allen-Gonzalez is in her 14th season at Texas A&M-Kingsville, holding an overall record of 236-160 during her time in South Texas with two trips to the NCAA Tournament (2016, 2023) and four All-American honorees. Allen also leads the Javelina beach volleyball program, winning the 2018 AVCA Small College National Championship in their inaugural season for the first women's national title in TAMUK history.

Saturday afternoon will be the 70th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Javelinas, WT is 56-13 in the series that dates back to 1980. West Texas A&M is 25-5 all-time in Kingsville as they won their last three trips to the Steinke Center.Â

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 21 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships.Â

The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 547-84 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%.

LSC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Outside hitter
Emma Becker led the offense for No. 6 West Texas A&M who pushed its win streak to 13 matches with sweeps of Cameron and Sul Ross State. In the LSC wins, Becker registered 23 kills on 39 swings with just two errors for a .538 attack percentage, adding five digs and three blocks and averaging 4.08 points per set.

LSC NEWS & NOTES
The upper half of the Lone Star Conference volleyball standings held in week 8, but the week 9 schedule provides opportunity for teams hovering in the middle to make a play for one of the eight LSC Tournament seeds. All 17 teams have four league games remaining on their 2024 schedules. West Texas A&M remains undefeated in the conference (12-0) with both Angelo State and UT Tyler behind at one loss each (11-1).

The numerical NCAA regional rankings will be released on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20. The 2024 Division II national tournament bracket is announced Nov. 25 via online selection show at 6:30 p.m. CT. NCAA Tournament play begins with Regionals Dec. 5-8 at campus sites and concludes in Sioux City, S.D., and the Dec. 12-14 Finals.

A NEW ERA
For the first time since the 2019 season, the Lady Buffs are under the guidance of a new head coach as
Brittany Harry was named the 16th leader of WT Volleyball on March 19, 2024.

Harry, the 2022 Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, has been the head coach at Texas A&M International for the past four seasons, serving as the architect behind the growth of the TAMIU program. In 2022, Harry set a program record with 23 victories to lead the Dustdevils into the LSC postseason for the second time in school history. She led her team to the best turnaround in all of NCAA Division II volleyball with a +18 win differential from 2021 to 2022.

LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs are ranked sixth in this week's edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll. It marks the 312th time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times.
