CANYON. Texas – The Lady Buffs picked up their first win of the young season on Sunday afternoon as a big fourth quarter lifted West Texas A&M to a 89-81 victory during the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the game going 33-of-62 (53.2%) from the floor including 10-of-21 (47.6%) from behind the arc and 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line with 28 rebounds (five offensive, 23 defensive), 13 assists, five turnovers, one block and two steals.
 
Kyla Kane impressed for the Lady Buffs as the Wellington product went 9-of-15 from the floor including 3-of-5 from deep for a team-high 24 points to go along with two rebounds and an assist. 
Randi Harding added 15 points for WT as the junior guard went 6-of-10 from the field followed by freshman 
Taytum Bell with 11 points.
 
Sage Hawley continued her impressive start to the season as the two-time All-American led all players with 35 points, going 14-of-23 from the floor including 7-of-8 from the charity stripe with 10 boards for a double-double. Harding went 30-of-68 (44.1%) from the field including 2-of-15 (13.3%) from deep and 19-of-22 (86.4%) from the line with 42 rebounds, 10 assists, eight turnovers, four blocks and three steals.
 
The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend to take part in the South Central Regional Challenge hosted by UT Permian Basin as WT takes on #21 Colorado Mesa on Friday afternoon (2:30 p.m.) followed by a Saturday matchup with South Dakota Mines (3:00 p.m.) at the Falcon Dome.
