CANYON, Texas – The No. 5 Lady Buffs swept the Rattlers (25-21, 25-20, 25-17) at home in The Box on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set the Lady Buffs took a lead at 9-4 before the Rattlers came back within three. Two kills by
Taytum Stow would allow the Lady Buffs to keep the momentum and force a timeout by the Rattlers. The Lady Buffs held the lead throughout the match but had the closest set in the first with the Rattlers finishing with 21 points.
The second set saw more action from the bench of the Lady Buffs with freshman Rylie Barnet and senior
Piper Warren coming in with a nine-point lead. Barnett would go on to finish the set with a powerful back court kill.
The Lady Buffs finished the match in dominant fashion by keeping the Rattlers at only 17 points. Junior
Brynne Wright led the Lady Buffs with 12 points and contributed a team high 11 kills. Outside hitter
Kelsey Carpenter came in clutch with a big swing down the line that made an immediate impact from the sidelines. All four middle blockers for the maroon and white along with four outsides and all three defensive specialists made an appearance in the sweep.
