#5 Lady Buffs Knock Off Belles in Four

CANYON, Texas – The No. 5 Lady Buffs took down the Angelo State Rambelles in four sets (25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18) and gave the Belles their first Lone Star Conference loss this season. The Lady Buffs and Belles are now tied for third in LSC play (4-1) along with Texas Woman's. Only two teams remain undefeated in conference; University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and Dallas Baptist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Buffs were neck and neck in the first and second set with the Belles with a total of 15 ties and 8 lead changes in the sets. The back and forth came to an end once the Lady Buffs hit 20 points first and took each set. The second set ended with two back-to-back blocks by Carly Evetts and each of the pin hitters, Brynne Wright and Emma Becker. The aggressive plays at the net tonight led the Lady Buffs to victory as they did not leave any room for the Belles defense to persevere. The Lady Buffs came away with double the blocks over the Belles out numbering them 12 to 6 in the match.

The third set looked promising as the Lady Buffs took an early lead at 6-0 before the Belles called a timeout to regroup and came back to tie the score at 8-8, for the 16th time in the match. The score would remain in favor of the Belles as the Lady Buffs came within one point on four separate occasions. The Belles produced more kills in the third set with 16 over the Lady Buffs 11. Their offense would help them take one set off the Lady Buffs at 23-25.

The fourth set saw the Lady Buffs take a lead in the middle of the set at 15-13 before they ran away with their largest lead of the match with 7 points. The Lady Buffs finished with three players in double-digit kills, Torrey Miller (11), Emma Becker (11) and were led by Brynne Wright (15). Seven Lady Buffs contributed blocks for the team including Miller, Becker and Wright with Taytum Stow leading (6) followed by Carly Evetts (4), Camy Jones (2) and Kelsey Carpenter (1).
