WT defeated TAMUK 4-1 in game one before two home runs from Murtha in game two allowed the Lady Buffs to run rule the Javelinas 8-0 in five innings.

WT (28-4, 19-4 LSC) looks to complete its sweep of TAMUK (14-17, 11-12 LSC) on Sunday at Schaeffer Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Pitching: (W) Emilee Boyer (9-2); (L) Beth Montes (8-7); (S) Kyra Lair (1)

The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning to set up a game one victory. Gabie McConnell started the run-scoring inning with a single before Ruby Salzman matched McConnell's effort with a single of her own. Boyer brought in the game's first run with her single up the middle, scoring McConnell from second. On the throw into third base, Boyer scampered to second base. Murtha doubled the advantage after hitting a ball to shortstop. Instead of throwing to first, the Javelinas caught Boyer in a rundown and allowed Salzman to score.

Texas A&M-Kingsville plated its first run in the top of the third inning when Breanna Carr struck out to start the inning but reached first on a wild pitch. After a fly out, Carr stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Aaliyah Ortiz brought the game within one after the junior sent a 2-2 pitch up the middle. Another Javelina single put two runners on, but Boyer worked her way out of the inning with the help of a strong defensive effort in the inning.

WT added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth when Salzman and Boyer singled to start the inning. After hitting a single into the gap, Boyer went to the dugout as Ruby Moore replaced her on the base paths. During Murtha's at bat, Moore took off for second with Salzman on third. The TAMUK defense couldn't execute the first-and-third situation as Salzman scored and Moore reached second base safely.

Boyer ended the day with the win, pitching 5.2 innings while give up an earned run. Kyra Lair entered the game in the sixth inning to record the save with three strikeouts.

THE BASICS
Game 32 Score: No. 20 West Texas A&M 8, Texas A&M-Kingsville 0
Pitching: (W) Emilee Wilson (4-0); (L) Carissa De Los Santos (4-5)

Murtha continued her hot streak at the plate in game two, bringing home three Lady Buff runs in the opening inning. With one out, Salzman struck out but reached first on an error by the Texas A&M-Kingsville catcher. Boyer moved Salzman to third when she doubled into the left-center gap. The one-out double set up Murtha's no-doubter to the opposite field, placing WT up 3-0 on its home field.

The Lady Buffs continued to put pressure on the Javelinas' defense in the second when Brittni Rufus and McConnell singled with one out. Salzman replaced McConnell on the bases when the senior reached on a fielder's choice. With Rufus on third, Salzman stole second easily to put two runners in scoring position. On a ground ball to first, TAMUK looked to have retired Boyer, but the ball came loose of the first baseman's glove. Boyer reached first but, more importantly, brought two more runs home for WT.

In the fourth, singles from McConnell and Salzman put runners on the bases once again for the Lady Buffs. After a pitching change, the WT duo executed a double steal as each player moved up a base. The steal proved to be impactful as Boyer grounded out to third and brought home another run. Murtha put the game out of reach and put the run rule into effect when the Summerlin, Nev. native jumped on a 2-1 pitch, blasting the ball over the center field wall.

Emma Parrish locked up the Javelina order in the fifth while recording two strikeouts, ending the game early.
