CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M are heading home with a Lone Star Conference series sweep over the Cameron Aggies following a 20-8 run-rule victory on Sunday afternoon at McCord Field in Lawton, Oklahoma.

The Buffs got on the board in the top of the first inning as a pair of walks to start the frame followed by a passed ball put runners on second and third with no outs,
Adam Becker lifted a sac fly to right center to score
Mike Manetta for the 1-0 lead. Cameron tied up the game in the bottom of the frame with a Lance Barnett RBI single thru the left side to make it 1-1.

WT retook the lead in the top of the second as Manetta was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out to score
Evan Leibl followed by a two-run single to center by
Ryan Johnson for the 4-1 lead as the Aggies made another pitching change.

The Aggies cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Trent Mallonee singled thru the right side with two outs to drive in Kai Hershberger followed later in the frame by a balk to score Mallonee to make it 4-3. The Buffs responded in the top of the fifth as
Cameron Loy singled to left to drive in a pair followed by an RBI triple from
Patrick Donovan and an RBI single from
Kix Ferrel to make it 8-3.Â

WT added to their lead in the sixth as
Kory Schmidt drew an RBI walk with the bases loaded and one out followed by
Evan Leibl being hit by a pitch, Donovan continued his big day at the plate with a two-run double down the right field line for the 12-3 lead.

Cameron responded again in the bottom of the sixth inning as Mallonee singled up the middle to drive in Spencer Simpson followed later in the frame by a Hunter Smith RBI double down the left field line as WT made a move to the bullpen, Beau Williams lifted a three-run homerun to right field to make it 12-8.

The Buffs answered in the top of the seventh as an
Eddy Savoie infield single plated Johnson followed by a Leibl single to center to drive in Becker, a wild pitch would score Savoie followed by a Ferrel RBI single down the left field line. WT wasn't done yet as Johnson doubled down the left field line with two outs followed by a Becker single to right to score two for the 20-8 lead.

Damon Elarton picked up the win (1-0) for the Buffs, allowing four earned runs on four hits with one walk and a strikeout in his 1.1 innings of relief.

The Buffs return home next weekend as they host the Falcons of UT Permian Basin in a four-game Lone Star Conference series beginning on Friday at Wilder Park in Canyon.Â
