CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M started off their spring break Lone Star Conference series with the UT Permian Basin Falcons in style on St. Patrick's Day, tossing a shutout in a 10-0 run-rule victory at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.

The Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning as
Adam Becker laced a single to left center with no outs to plate
Mike Manetta followed later in the inning by a
Kory Schmidt sac fly to right to score
Ryan Johnson for the 2-0 advantage.

Becker would add to the WT lead in the home half of the second and fourth innings with RBI singles to extend the score to 4-0. The Buffs extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth as
Evan Leibl drove in
Kory Schmidt with an RBI fielder's choice groundout to make it 5-0.

Will Fuenning added to the WT lead in the eighth as the senior lifted a ground-run double to left field followed by an
Eddy Savoie sacrifice fly to score
Ryan Johnson, WT wasn't done yet as Schmidt and
Patrick Donovan drove in runs with RBI singles followed by a walkoff RBI double to the left center field gap by
Seth Ochoa for the 10-0 win.

Nick Marshall picked up the win (5-0) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing no runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in his seven innings of scoreless work.Â

The Buffs and Falcons return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon with first pitch of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader set for 2:00 p.m. in Canyon.
