CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M shot 52.8% from the floor on Saturday afternoon as they picked up their 20
th victory of the season with a 78-57 Lone Star Conference crossover win over the St. Edward's Hilltoppers at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.
Kyla Kane and
Nyalam Thabach finished the game with 21 points each followed by
Lauren Taylor with 12. Thabach went 9-of-15 from the floor including 1-of-1 from behind the arc and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe to go along with a team-high 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season to go along with an assist and a block.
The Lady Buffs finished the game going 28-of-53 (52.8%) from the floor including 8-of-20 (40%) from deep and 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free throw line with 44 total rebounds (10 offensive, 34 defensive), 14 assists, 22 turnovers, three blocks and seven steals.
Lauren Catherman led the way for the Hilltoppers as the junior from Lubbock went 5-of-16 from the floor including 7-of-9 from the charity stripe for a team-high 17 points to go along with one rebound and four steals. SEU went 19-of-56 (33.9%) from the floor including 3-of-11 (27.3%) from deep and 16-of-24 (66.7%) from the free throw line to go along with 21 rebounds (five offensive, 16 defensive), six assists, 10 turnovers, no blocks and nine steals.
The Lady Buffs wrap-up their regular season home schedule on Thursday night as they welcome the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian to the First United Bank Center for LSC divisional action with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. on Senior Night in Canyon.
