CANYON, Texas – The #20 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up their 23
rd consecutive victory inside of the First United Bank Center while
Josh Prock claimed his 250
th career win on Saturday afternoon as WT rolled past the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico, 84-55 in front of over 700 fans during a Lone Star Conference divisional matchup in Canyon.
Karley Motschenbacher led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the sophomore guard went 7-of-13 from the floor including 1-of-3 from deep and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe for a team-high 17 points to go along with eight boards, four assists and two steals. Three other Lady Buffs finished in double-figures:
Zamorye Roberts (13),
Kyla Kane (13) and
Kamirah Decker (11).
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 29-of-70 (41.4%) from the field including 12-of-29 (41.4%) from deep and 14-of-15 (93.3%) from the free throw line to go along with 47 rebounds (15 offensive, 32 defensive), 15 assists, 14 turnovers, five blocks and six steals.
Edecia Beck paced the Eastern New Mexico offense as she went 5-of-13 from the floor including 1-of-3 from behind the arc to tie a team-high with 12 points to go along with five rebounds, one assist and two steals. The Greyhounds went 20-of-64 (31.3%) from the floor including 5-of-23 (21.7%) from deep and 10-of-20 (50%) from the line to go along with 36 rebounds (11 offensive, 25 defensive), nine assists, 12 turnovers, no blocks and 10 steals.
The Lady Buffs hit the road for a rematch of last year's South Central Regional Semifinals on Thursday night as they head to Denton, Texas to take on the #12 Pioneers of Texas Woman's with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena.
