Late Surge Lifts #20 WT Past Western New Mexico in Canyon, 73-66

CANYON, Texas – The #20 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M struggled to find their rhythm offensively on Thursday night but late buckets and a strong showing at the free throw line was enough to give WT a 73-66 Lone Star Conference divisional win over the Western New Mexico Mustangs, 73-66 at the First United Bank Center.

Karley Motschenbacher led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Moorhead, Minnesota product went 6-of-8 from the floor including 2-of-2 from deep and 8-of-12 from the free throw line for a game-high 22 points to go along with four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Nyalam Thabach finished with 15 points and nine boards followed by Zamorye Roberts (13) and Lauren Taylor (10) also in double-figures.

Diamond Moore paced the Mustang offense as the junior from Colorado Springs went 8-of-13 from the floor including 4-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds.
