CANYON, Texas – The #20 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M struggled to find their rhythm offensively on Thursday night but late buckets and a strong showing at the free throw line was enough to give WT a 73-66 Lone Star Conference divisional win over the Western New Mexico Mustangs, 73-66 at the First United Bank Center.

Karley Motschenbacher led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Moorhead, Minnesota product went 6-of-8 from the floor including 2-of-2 from deep and 8-of-12 from the free throw line for a game-high 22 points to go along with four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Nyalam Thabach finished with 15 points and nine boards followed by
Zamorye Roberts (13) and
Lauren Taylor (10) also in double-figures.

WT finished the night going 24-of-51 (47.1%) from the field including 10-of-19 (52.9%) from behind the arc and 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the stripe to go along with 36 rebounds (nine offensive, 27 defensive), 13 assists, 15 turnovers, five blocks and four steals.

Diamond Moore paced the Mustang offense as the junior from Colorado Springs went 8-of-13 from the floor including 4-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds. WNMU finished the game going 28-of-69 (40.6%) from the field including 3-of-15 (20%) from deep and 7-of-10 (70%) from the free throw line to go along with 34 rebounds (13 offensive, 21 defensive), six assists, nine turnovers and five steals.

The Lady Buffs wrap up their homestand on Saturday afternoon as they welcome to the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico to the First United Bank Center with tipoff set for 1 p.m. in Canyon.
