EUGENE, Ore. – West Texas A&M's
Benjamin Azamati and the rest of Ghana's 4x100-meter relay squad broke the national record on Friday in the 2022 World Athletics Championship finals at Hayward Field in Oregon.
Azamati along with Sean Safo-Antwi, Joseph Oduro Manu and Joseph Paul Amoah ran 38.07 to finish .03 ahead of South Africa. The former Buff ran the second leg on the relay that broke the previous Ghana record of 38.08 set at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics to secure the last spot in the finals.
Canada's quartet ran 37.48 to take the gold and move to first on the world leaderboard followed by the United States (37.55), Great Britain (37.83) and Jamaica (38.06).
