CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M junior outfielder
Ryan Johnson has been honored for his efforts in the classroom as a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team.

Johnson becomes the second Buff in program history to claim Academic All-American honors, joining Tag Baxter in 2019 (Second Team). The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® program.

Johnson became a staple at the top of the WT batting order as the Albuquerque, New Mexico native finished the year hitting .403 with 16 doubles, three triples and 11 long balls to drive in 61 RBI for a slugging percentage of .657. He was named a Second Team D2CCA All-American while also being named an Honorable Mention NCBWA All-American honoree.

The First Team All-Lone Star Conference honoree has walked 18 times to go along with 24 hit-by-pitch for an on-base percentage of .489 while registering 69 putouts in the outfield. Johnson was named First Team All-South Central Region by the D2CCA, NCBWA and ABCA/Rawlings. Johnson holds a 3.82 GPA in Biology at West Texas A&M.
