CANYON, Texas – The #3 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M look to clinch a Lone Star Conference series win on the road over the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions on Monday afternoon following a Sunday doubleheader split at Crowder Field in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Monday's series finale has been moved up to a Noon first pitch due to the threat of inclement afternoon weather in Fort Smith.

GAME ONE
The Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning as
Will Fuenning singled to center to drive in
Ryan Johnson followed by an
Eric Ortiz RBI single to right field for the 2-0 advantage. WT added to their lead in the second as Johnson singled thru the left side with two outs to drive in
Eddy Savoie for the 3-0 lead.

WT added to their lead in the top of the sixth as Savoie grounded out to shortstop to plate
Mike Manetta followed by a Johnson RBI single that scored
Bryant Bailey to make it 5-0. The Lions cut into the lead in the home half of the sixth as Mac Moody lifted a two-run homerun to left center at 5-2.

The Buffs took advantage of a Fort Smith error with two outs in the seventh as
Adam Becker scored from third to make it 6-2.
Nick Marshall picked up the win on the mound (5-0) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in his five scoreless frames.Â

GAME TWO
WT took an early lead in the nightcap as
Zach Kaminkow singled to center field with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the first to drive in Becker and Fuenning to make it 2-0. The Lions responded in the bottom of the frame as they took advantage of a WT error to cut the lead to 2-1.

UAFS tied up the game in the home half of the fourth inning as Zach Slunder was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs to score Kaleb Shaffer. WT answered in the top of the fifth inning with a Badgett pinch-hit RBI single to center field that plated Johnson to make it 3-2.

The Lions registered their first hit of the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning as Brooks Sunny lifted a solo homerun to deep left field with one out to tie the game at 3-3. The Lions took their first lead of the afternoon in the bottom of the sixth as Sunny doubled down the line off of the left field wall with the bases loaded and one out to plate two and make it 5-3.

The Buffs wouldn't go down without a fight as Becker started off the seventh with a solo homerun to left center followed by a Fuenning and a
Clay Artho hit-by-pitch to put two on with one out, Manetta singled to right field to score
Paul Wittmann followed by a Bailey two-run double to the gap in left center for the 7-5 lead. WT wasn't done yet as Savoie lifted a two-run shot to left field with two outs to make it 9-5.

UAFS cut into the lead in the home half as Slunder doubled to deep center field with two outs to score Nico Patrick followed by an RBI single to left center by Hunter Church, Noah Davis tied up the game with a two-run homerun to left field to tie the game at 9-9 headed to extra innings.

WT took the lead again in the top of the 10
th inning as Wittmann would score from third base on a wild pitch with two outs for the 10-9 lead. UAFS answered in the home half as Cash Balentine singled to center with one out to score Sunny followed later in the frame by a Slunder RBI single up the middle with the bases loaded and two outs for the walkoff 11-10 victory.

Colton Charnholm picked up the loss (4-2) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing two earned runs on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in his 2.1 inning of relief.
