CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M return home for Lone Star Conference action this weekend as they host the Cameron Aggies in a four-game series at Wilder Park inside of the Buffalo Sports Complex beginning on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 p.m. in Canyon.
A LOOK AT THE AGGIES
Cameron enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-4 as they have split their first two LSC series of the season at Texas A&M-Kingsville and at home against St. Edward's. The Aggies won games two and four last weekend in Lawton against the Hilltoppers highlighted by a 9-5 victory in the finale on Sunday afternoon.
Jordan Harrison-Dudley is leading the way offensively for the Aggies as the senior from Paris, Texas is hitting .323 on the season with two doubles and three homeruns to drive in a team-leading 12 RBI for 21 total bases and a slugging percentage of .677. Trophy Club, Texas product Kalen Haynes is a perfect 2-0 on the mound this season for Cameron, allowing two earned runs on five hits with eight walks and 11 strikeouts in his 11.0 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .152 during his pair of starts.
CU HEAD COACH KYLE WILLIAMS
Kyle Williams is now in his third season at the helm of the Cameron baseball program after taking over the Aggies in the summer of 2019 following one season as the program's top assistant. Williams holds an overall record of 18-51 during his time in Lawton. During his one season as the top assistant, the Aggies knocked off top-seeded Angelo State on their way to the LSC Championship game before falling to WT at Wilder Park. Williams came to Lawton following six years as an assistant and recruiting coordinator at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri.
SERIES HISTORY
The Buffaloes lead the all-time series against the Aggies, 53-36 with WT taking the last two meetings in the series that dates back to the 1996 season. Cameron is 17-35 in contests played in Canyon/Amarillo including 4-22 inside of the Buffalo Sports Complex. Last year's series was originally scheduled to be played in Lawton but inclement weather moved the three-game set to Canyon, the Aggies took the opener 14-12 before the Buffs responded with a pair of run-rule victories as WT outscored Cameron 38-7 in the final 14 innings of the series.
WEEKEND LSC REWIND
Three Lone Star Conference baseball teams earned series sweeps over the weekend as No. 5 Angelo State, No. 15 West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian all went 4-0 against league competition. St. Mary's went 2-0 taking down a pair of ranked opponents at the Houston Winter Invitational at Minute Maid Park. UT Tyler and Texas A&M-Kingsville also picked up series wins, while St. Edward's and Cameron split a four-game set. WT sits atop the league standings at 4-0 after week two, followed by ASU and LCU at 6-2.
2021 RECAP
The 2021 campaign saw the Buffaloes claim their third Lone Star Conference Championship with a 28-4 mark in league action as they advanced to a seventh straight NCAA Tournament, making an appearance in the program's first ever Regional Finals with an overall record of 34-9.
WT HEAD COACH MATT VANDERBURG
Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native enters his 14th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 415-238 (.636) during his time in Canyon while registering a career record of 514-299 (.629) in his 17 seasons in collegiate baseball.

Cory Hall enters his 12th year at West Texas A&M as the Buffs' Pitching Coach, serving the last six as the program's Associate Head Coach. Hall has had four different pitchers drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft during his time in Canyon with multiple other professional players learning under one of the top pitching minds in collegiate baseball. 2022 LSC PRESEASON POLL
Angelo State picked up 27 of the possible 36 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 452 points followed by West Texas A&M with five first place votes and 432 total points. UT Tyler sat third with 364 points followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (three first place, 360), Oklahoma Christian (315), Lubbock Christian (289), St. Mary's (one first place, 287), UAFS (201), St. Edward's (195), UT Permian Basin (138), Texas A&M International (106), Cameron (90) and Eastern New Mexico (47).
ASU's Aaron Walters was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year while teammate Carson Childers picked up Preseason Pitcher of the Year accolades. The league's preseason poll reflects the opinions of LSC head coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives throughout the region.
THIS IS LSC BASEBALL
The LSC Championship will feature a two-week tournament comprised of the top eight teams with the opening round at on-campus sites May 6-8. The winners of each opening round series will advance to a double-elimination tournament played May 12-14. The winner of the postseason tournament will be recognized as the LSC Tournament Champion and receive the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.
HOME OF CHAMPIONS
West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The 2020-21 season saw WT claim seven LSC Regular Season Championships, three LSC Tournament Titles, three Regional Championships, four Top-three track & field finishes, a men's basketball national title game appearance and the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.
