CANYON, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M left Portales, New Mexico unbeaten as they finished off a Lone Star Conference sweep over Eastern New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at Greyhound Field with a 10-8 victory in the series finale.

The Buffs took an early lead as a pair of walks to start the inning led to a
Will Fuenning RBI infield single to score
Eddy Savoie followed by an
Eric Ortiz single to center to plate
Ryan Johnson and make it 2-0. WT would add to their lead in the third as
Mike Manetta lifted a sac fly to deep right field with no outs as
Adam Becker tagged up to make it 3-0.

Becker drove in Savoie with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning followed in the fifth by three WT runs as Savoie, Becker and Fuenning all drove in RBI to make it 7-0. The Buffs added to their lead in the sixth as Johnson doubled to the gap in left center to plate Savoie and Manetta to extend the lead to 9-0.

The Hounds responded in the home half of the sixth as they plated four runs on three hits to make it 9-4, WT answered in the top of the eighth as
Paul Wittmann scored from third on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 10-4. ENMU wouldn't go down without a fight as they cut the WT lead to 10-8 in the bottom of the eighth with four runs on four hits to go along with a Buffalo error.

Chris Rodriguez slammed the door in the final frame for the second straight contest as the junior right-hander struck out the first two batters of the frame followed by fly ball to Wittmann in center as the Buffs closed out the sweep with a 10-8 win.

Jack Eagan was dominant in his debut as the Mississippi State transfer picked up the win (1-0), retiring all nine batters that he faced including four strikeouts in his three innings of work.
Reese Miller struck out four and walked just one in the opening role as the Dayton, Texas product allowed no hits over the first two frames.

The Buffs return to Wilder Park next weekend for Lone Star Conference action as they host the Cameron Aggies in a four-game series beginning Friday afternoon in Canyon.
