#5 West Texas A&M Tops Cameron in the LSC Series Opener, 12-5

CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M picked up a 12-5 victory in the Lone Star Conference series opener on Friday afternoon as they raced past the Cameron Aggies in front of over 200 fans at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.
 
The Aggies got on the board in the top of the second inning as Ryan Allen lifted a solo homerun to straight away center with two outs for the 1-0 lead. Cameron added to their lead in the third as Beau Williams doubled down the left field line to plate Zac DeLong and make it 2-0.
 
WT responded in the home half of the third as Ryan Johnson singled to left with one out to score Paul Wittmann followed by an Adam Becker double to the gap in right center that plated two to give the Buffs the 3-2 lead.
 
Cameron retook the lead in the top of the fifth as Jordan Harrison-Dudley connected on a three run bomb down the right field line with two outs to make it 5-3. 
 
WT answered back in the bottom as Kennedy Badgett doubled off of the left field wall to score Eddy Savoie followed by another Becker two-win double and a pair of wild pitches to plate Becker and give WT the 7-5 lead.
 
Savoie registered his third hit of the afternoon in the sixth as the Montreal product lifted a two-run homerun to left center to extend the lead to 9-5. WT added to their lead in the seventh as Mike Manetta singled to right with the bases loaded followed later in the frame by a Wittmann two-run double to extend the lead to 12-5.
 
Nick Marshall picked up the win (3-0) on the mound for the Buffs as the sophomore right-hander allowed five earned runs on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in his seven innings of work. Sasha Sneider allowed no runs on two hits with two strikeouts in the final two frames.
