CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs were pushed to the limit on Saturday night before coming away with a 75-67 South Central Regional victory over the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Nyalam Thabach and
Karley Motschenbacher led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as they finished with 19 points each. Thabach went 9-of-11 from the floor with six rebounds, one steal and one block while Motschenbacher finished the game going 7-of-10 from the floor with five boards, two assists and two steals in her 36 minutes of action.

The Lady Buffs finished the game going 28-of-54 (51.9%) from the floor including 3-of-21 (14.3%) from behind the arc and 16-of-26 (61.5%) from the free throw line to go along with 28 rebounds (seven offensive, 21 defensive), six assists, 11 turnovers, eight steals and a block.

The Hardrockers were led by Piper Bauer as the sophomore guard went 5-of-14 from the floor including 2-of-9 from deep for a team-high 16 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Mines finished the night going 24-of-57 (42.1%) from the field including 7-of-21 (33.3%) from deep and 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the stripe with 30 rebounds (10 offensive, 20 defensive), 10 assists, 16 turnovers, six steals and no blocks.

The Lady Buffs return to Canyon for their home opener on Friday night as the host the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State with tipoff set for 4 p.m. at the First United Bank Center.
