CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M (16-4, 8-0 LSC) returns to Lone Star Conference action this weekend when the No. 12 Lady Buffs travel to Arkansas to take on UAFS (11-8, 3-3 LSC) on Friday, Oct. 14, followed by a match at Oklahoma Christian (12-8, 3-4 LSC) on Saturday, Oct. 15. Friday's match is set for 6 p.m.  at the Stubblefield Center while Saturday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m.

LIVE COVERAGE
A live stream and stats will be provided by the UAFS and OC Athletic Communications departments.  The match will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network.  Fans will be able to purchase a $10 daily pass that will give them access to all contests on the network that day as well as access to previously aired games from the current season for 24 hours.Â

Fans can also purchase a $50 volleyball season pass that will give them access to all Lone Star Conference volleyball matches.  In addition to live and archived streaming options, viewers will have the option to purchase and download games from the 2022 season for $10 each.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
UAFSÂ
The Lions head into the weekend 11-8 and 3-3 in Lone Star Conference play led by head coach Jane Sargent who is in her 25
th season at the helm of the UAFS volleyball program. Under Sargent, the Lions are 722-186 with seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament including two runs in the Elite Eight.Â

WT leads the all-time series 6-1 with a two game win streak since the series start in 2010.  In their last matchup, the Lady Buffs won 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) in front of their home crowd at The Box.

UAFS is hitting .206 on the season with 12.6 kills per frame to go along with 16.6 digs, 11.7 assists, 1.6 aces, and 1.8 blocks. Reagan Macha has 178 kills (2.51/set) with a team-high 20 aces to lead the offense while Chloe Price paces the Lions with 645 assists (8.84/set) which ranks fourth in the LSC. Junior libero Lauren Webb leads the back row with 338 digs (4.90) while Hannah Holland has 48.0 blocks on the year.Â

Oklahoma Christian
OC is 12-8 this season and 3-4 in league play after falling to DBU, 3-1, on Wednesday night. The Eagles are led by former WT coach Jason Skoch who led the Eagles to the LSC Tournament Quarterfinals in his first season where they went head-to-head with the Lady Buffs.

The Lady Buffs lead the series 2-0 since its series start last season.  WT swept past the Eagles twice including a shutout victory in the conference tournament where the Lady Buffs went on to claim their 16
th LSC Tournament title.Â

As a team, the Eagles are hitting .171 with 11.5 kills per set to go with 10.7 assists, 1.4 aces, 17.5 digs and 2.4 blocks.  Senior middle Wendy Cobbah totals 195 kills (2.60/set) on 527 attempts with 55 errors to hit .266 while Olivia Hessman leads the team with 389 assists (5.19/set) and Sophie Mae Smith has a team-high 20 aces. Brylie Berryman has scooped 307 digs (4.09/set) and Kelsie Schiefelbien ha 82.0 blocks which is 22
nd in Division II.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Buffs extended their win streak out to nine after defeating Southwestern Oklahoma State (25-7, 25-13, 25-18) on Tuesday night. WT registered a season-high .418 hitting-percentage in the sweep with 38 kills on 91 swings with nine errors to go along with 40 digs, 35 assists, 11 blocks and 11 aces.Â

Camy Jones and Angelina Oliver led the offense posting seven kills each whileÂ
Katrina Johnson had a match-high 10 points against the Bulldogs.Â
Blair Moreland the offense with 14 assists andÂ
Torrey Miller had a match-high six service aces. On defense,Â
Bryli Contreras collected nine digs while Johnson had a match-high six blocks.Â

LEADING THE BACK ROW
Emma Patterson was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after she guided a Lady Buff defense that limited opponents to hit just .082 with sweeps over Midwestern State and Texas Woman's. The sophomore had 47 digs on the weekend including a career-high 27 against TWU to lead the back row. She had two service aces and was awarded a kill to total three points on the weekend. She now ranks seventh in the LSC with 4.51 digs per frame.

A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS
WT ranks second in the conference in attack percentage at .252 while leading the league in assists per frame (12.32).  The Lady Buffs also are second in kills average (13.54) and opponent hitting percentage (.145).), and third in blocks average (2.38).Â

The Lady Buffs are represented in the Top 10 of every individual leaderboard ranking as high as second. Freshman
Taytum Stow is second in hitting percentage (.351) and blocks per frame (1.25) while junior outside
Torrey Miller is fourth in kills average (3.76) and third in points (4.44/set). Stow ranks 13
th in Division II in blocks per set while Miller ranks 26
th in points per set.Â

AROUND THE LONE STARÂ
WT leads the conference standings with an undefeated 8-0 record followed by DBU (7-1), Texas A&M International (5-1), St. Mary's (6-2), Angelo State (6-2), UT Tyler (5-3), UT Permian Basin (5-3) and Lubbock Christian (5-5) rounding out the top eight. The top eight programs from the conference will advance to the league tournament on Nov. 10-12 hosted on the campus of the top seed.Â

IN THE POLLS
Wayne State remains the national leader with a perfect 21-0 record, earning all possible 47 first-place votes while MSU Denver ranks second and Concordia-St. Paul comes in at third.  Tampa stands fourth in the nation followed by Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State, Southwest Minnesota State, Nebraska-Kearney, Alaska Anchorage, and Washburn rounding out the Top 10.Â

The South Central Region has five schools represented in the national standings led by MSU Denver in second along with WT (12
th), Regis (16
th), Colorado Mesa (20
th), and Colorado School of Mines (23
rd) while Colorado State-Pueblo and Dallas Baptist are receiving votes.Â

WT HEAD COACH KENDRA POTTS
Kendra Potts is in her fourth season at the helm of Lady Buff Volleyball with an overall 74-20 (.787) record and 45-10 (.818) in league play.  Potts led her alma mater to the program's 14
th NCAA Elite Eight Appearance after capturing the South Central Regional title to become the sixth head coach in program history to guide WT to the Elite Eight.Â

MAKING HISTORY
Following the LSC opening weekend, WT swept the LSC weekly awards for the first time since 2011 as
Ainsley Malis was named the Setter of the Week while
Torrey Miller and
Taytum Stow earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.  The trio became the first Lady Buffs to sweep the weekly honors since Nov. 2, 2011, with Ashley Davis, Erin Dougherty, and Lacy Hayes where WT finished 34-3 overall.Â

HOME DOMINANCE
WT houses one of the best home environments in the country across all of NCAA volleyball.  The WTAMU Fieldhouse, best known as "The Box" is home to 20 Lone Star Conference Championships, 14 regional titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships.  At "The Box", the Lady Buffs are 516-83 since 1980 for an incredible winning percentage of 86.6% and 90.4% during conference play.Â

WT Athletics proudly announced a new state-of-the-art court for the historic home of Lady Buff Volleyball thanks to a generous gift from BritKare Home Medical that highlighted the 2021 season.  ÂBritKare Court at The Box features a top-line Taraflex court surface that is widely used in Division I arenas, professional volleyball and was most recently featured at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Â

Following the weekend, the Lady Buffs have just six matches left of the regular season leading off with a midweek matchup at Lubbock Christian on Oct. 19.  First serve is set for 6 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.Â
