LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 14 West Texas A&M opened the 2021 on a high note winning the Texas Tech Open on Saturday morning.
Running on the course that will serve as the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship in November, WT. scored 56 points to finish 15 points ahead of UTEP and Texas Tech.
Innocent Murwanashyaka was the top finisher for the Buffs as the junior finished second behind Texas Tech's EJ Rush covering the 4-mile course in 19 minutes, 49 seconds.
Freshman
Gustavo Posada made an immediate impact as he was one of four runners to go under 20 minutes finishing fourth in 19:56.9.
Harry Louradour finished 14tth in 20:30.9 with
Jay Hall right behind him in 15
th (20:30.9).
Ezekiel Kipchirchir was the fifth runner for the Buffs in 21
st (20:40.0) followed by
Briggs Wittlake in 23
rd (20:44.9),
Noah Bundrock in 37

Calvin Allen in 38
th (21:40.2)
The Buffs return to action on Sept. 18 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo.
