Buffs Fall 1-0 to Texas A&M International Tuesday Afternoon

CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 1-0 to Texas A&M International on a penalty kick Tuesday afternoon.  Both teams move to 1-1-0 on the season while WT continues to lead the all-time series 10-6-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
TAMIU attacked first in the first 16-minutes of play with two shots by Kristian Colaci and Gabriel Gacovicaj but each were saved by senior keeper Alexander Vencel.  The Buffs first shot came from Ben Siri in the 27thminute just before Stefan Andjelic's strike was denied by the defense.  After 35-minutes of scoreless action, the Dustdevils jumped on board with a penalty kick by Johan Portales to lead 1-0 at the half.
 
The Buffs tried to equalize the score in the 86th minute but Daniel Nascimento de Andrada's shot was saved by Dustdevils' Faus Natxo.  In the final minute of the match, WT saw another opportunity to level the score with a shot by Sean Ryan but was denied by Natxo to give WT their first loss of the season. 
 
The Buffs outshot the Dustdevils 10-6 with five on target led by Ben Siri with two shots both landing on frame.  Stefan Andjelic and Giancarlo each recorded two shots against TAMIU.   
 
Alexander Vencel (1-1) received the loss for the Buffs allowing the lone goal on 6 shots with four saves between the post.

The Buffs will hit the road as they travel to San Antonio to face St. Mary's on Tuesday, March 9 at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
