EDMOND, Okla. – Hannah Kelley-Lusk became the 14th player in program history to net a hat trick as West Texas A&M extended their win streak to three games with a 4-1 victory Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Buffs improve to 3-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Lady Buffs spent the whole first half playing into the wind but that didn't seem to bother them as Kelley-Lusk put the visitors up 1-0 in the 9th minute. Jessica Diaz picked up the assist as she sent her through ball right in the path of Kelley-Lusk who made the keeper miss and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Asha James doubled the lead in the 12th minute on her second goal of the season after beating the keeper at the far post. Kelley-Lusk had the nicely weighted through ball to sophomore, who only needed one touch to make it 2-0.
It was could have been 3-0 in the 36th minute had OC's Gabby Goddard not stopped Kelley-Lusk point black. Noir Hawash beat her defender by the right touchline before sending in a low cross into the path of Kelley-Lusk but Goddard was there to make the save.
OC cut the lead to 2-1 in the 56th minute on goal from Natalie Thomas on a nice pass from Brianna Concienne. The Eagles would get a few more chances to tie the game but were unable to convert before Kelley-Lusk secured the win for the Lady Buffs in the 69th minute.
The senior found the back of the net for a second time after timing her run perfectly on pass from Diaz before putting the ball into the near post. She would secure her first career hat trick 25 seconds later as she beat the offside trap again to latch on to a pass from Cordero and round the keeper to make it 4-1 in favor of WT.
The Lady Buffs outshot the Eagles 23-9 with 11 of those shots coming from Kelley-Lusk and James. Hawash also had four shots off the bench. Daniela Estrada made two saves in her first star of the season.
