#8 Lady Buffs Continue Their Winning Ways Against TWU

CANYON, Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M started fast and never looked back as they used a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive pressure to run their win streak to 11 games with a 79-44 victory over the Texas Woman's Pioneers in Lone Star Conference crossover action on Monday night in Canyon.
 
Jillian Sowell led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the freshman went 5-of-6 from the field including 4-of-5 from deep for a career-high 14 points followed by Sienna Lenz (12), Lexy Hightower (11), Abby Spurgin (11) and Madison Kast (10) in double-figures. Hightower registered a career-high seven assists while Spurgin and McKauley Gregory grabbed six boards each.
 
The Lady Buffs went 31-of-63 (49.2%) from the floor including 8-of-23 (34.8%) from deep and 9-of-10 (90%) from the free throw line with 34 rebounds (nine offensive, 25 defensive), 19 assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and 10 steals.
 
Texas Woman's was led by Ma'K'La Woods who went 6-of-11 from the floor for a team-high 12 points to go along with five rebounds, one steal and a block. TWU finished the game going 15-of-48 (31.3%) from the field including 4-of-20 (20%) from behind the arc and 10-of-13 (76.9%) from the charity stripe with 32 rebounds (eight offensive, 24 defensive), 12 assists, 21 turnovers, three blocks and seven steals in the loss.
 
HALFTIME REPORT
The Lady Buffs took a 35-19 lead into the locker room as they went 14-of-32 (43.8%) from the floor including 4-of-10 (40%) from behind the arc and a perfect 3-of-3 from the charity stripe with 17 rebounds (five offensive, 12 defensive), seven assists, four turnovers, two blocks and five steals. TWU finished the first half going 7-of-26 (26.9%) from the field including 3-of-13 (23.1%) from deep and 2-of-2 from the free throw line with 19 rebounds (six offensive, 13 defensive), four assists, 11 turnovers, three blocks and two steals.
