CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M ran their win streak to double-digits
on Saturday afternoon as all 10 players scored a point for the #8 Lady Buffs in a 67-50 Lone Star Conference divisional victory over the rival Belles of Angelo State
on Saturday afternoon at the Junell Center.
Lexy Hightower led the way for the Lady Buffs as the senior went 4-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line for a team-high 15 points to go along with three rebounds, four assists and three steals. Fellow senior
Abby Spurgin finished just one board shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds in the win.
The Lady Buffs went 26-of-63 (41.3%) from the field including 6-of-20 (30%) from deep and 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the free throw line with 45 total rebounds (18 offensive, 27 defensive), 12 assists, 11 turnovers, two blocks and seven steals.
Angelo State was led offensively by Sawyer Lloyd and Madeline Stephens who combined to go 9-of-24 from the floor and 3-of-10 from behind the arc for 13 points. The Belles finished the afternoon going 19-of-51 (37.3%) from the floor including 6-of-18 (33.3%) from deep and 6-of-9 (66.7%) from the charity stripe with 27 rebounds (seven offensive, 20 defensive), 11 assists, 15 turnovers, no blocks and five steals.

The Lady Buffs took a 32-23 lead into the locker room as they went 13-of-35 (37.1%) from the floor including 3-of-11 (27.3%) from deep and 3-of-6 (50%) from the free throw line with 25 rebounds (12 offensive, 13 defensive), eight assists, four turnovers, two blocks and four steals. ASU went 8-of-23 (34.8%) from the field in the first half including 3-of-9 (33.3%) from behind the arc and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from the charity stripe with 15 rebounds (four offensive, 11 defensive), three assists, nine turnovers, no blocks and a steal.
