Mattio Gets Her 150th Win as the #8 Lady Buffs Roll Angelo State

CANYON, Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to nine games on Thursday night as WT head coach Kristen Mattio picked up her 150th career victory in a 79-46 Lone Star Conference divisional contest against the rival Belles of Angelo State at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
Lexy Hightower led the way for the Lady Buffs as the senior went 5-of-9 from the floor including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line to finish the night with 15 points to go along with four rebounds, five assists and three steals. McKauley Gregory and Sienna Lenz both finished in double-figures, combining for 21 points while Braylyn Dollar grabbed nine boards with nine points and two steals.
 
The Lady Buffs went 29-of-64 (45.3%) from the field including 10-of-25 (40%) from deep and 11-of-14 (78.6%) from the charity stripe with 38 total rebounds (13 offensive, 25 defensive), 18 assists, 10 turnovers, four blocks and 13 steals in the win.
 
Angelo State was led offensively by Madeline Stephens who went 4-of-11 from the floor including 1-of-4 from behind the arc and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe for a team-high 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds, one assists and a steal for the double-double. The Belles finished the game going 17-of-55 (30.9%) from the floor including 5-of-22 (22.7%) from deep and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line with 35 rebounds (12 offensive, 33 defensive), seven assists, 22 turnovers, four blocks and four steals.
 
HALFTIME REPORT
The Lady Buffs took a 45-17 lead into the locker room at half as WT went 18-of-35 (51.4%) from the field including 6-of-15 (40%) from behind the arc and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the free throw line with 20 rebounds (six offensive, 14 defensive), 10 assists, three turnovers, two blocks and 10 steals. ASU finished the half going 6-of-26 (23.1%) from the floor including 1-of-11 (9.1%) from deep and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe with 16 rebounds, one assist, 13 turnovers, no blocks and a steal.
