#16 Lady Buffs Fall on the Road to #1 Lubbock Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas – The top-ranked Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian scored the first nine points of the contests on Thursday night and never looked back as they handed the #16 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs a 68-42 Lone Star Conference divisional loss inside of the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas. 
 
Lexy Hightower led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the senior went 3-of-9 from the floor including a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe with a team-high 14 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists. Fellow senior Abby Spurgin went 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line with 11 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and a block.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night going 14-of-46 (30.4%) from the floor including 2-of-17 (11.8%) from behind the arc and 12-of-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line with 32 total rebounds (nine offensive, 23 defensive), nine assists, 19 turnovers, one block and two steals in the loss.
 
LCU was led by Allie Schulte who went 8-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line for a game-high 21 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and two steals while Ashton Duncan (11), Emma Middleton (12) and Madelyn Turner (14) all scored in double-figures. The Lady Chaps went 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the floor including 6-of-17 (35.3%) from deep and 10-of-11 (90.9%) from the charity stripe with 30 rebounds (seven offensive, 23 defensive), 11 assists, nine turnovers, three blocks and seven steals.

The Lady Buffs trailed 42-20 heading into the locker room as they went 8-of-25 (32%) from the floor including 2-of-9 (22.2%) from behind the arc and 2-of-4 (50%) from the free throw line with 14 rebounds (five offensive, nine defensive), five assists, 10 turnovers, no blocks and two steals. LCU finished the half going 15-of-27 (55.6%) from the field including 5-of-7 (71.4%) from deep and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe with 15 rebounds (three offensive, 12 defensive), nine assists, four turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
