Hightower Drops 20 on Senior Day in a Defensive Battle with #1 LCU

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Lexy Hightower score a game-high 20 points in her final regular-season game inside of the First United Bank Center on Saturday afternoon as the #16 Lady Buffs dropped a defensive battle with the top-ranked Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps, 48-45 in Lone Star Conference action.
 
Hightower finished the afternoon going 8-of-17 from the floor including 1-of-3 from deep and 3-of-3 from the free throw line to go along with two rebounds, three assists and a steal. Braylyn Dollar grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with four steals and eight points.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 17-of-53 (32.1%) from the floor including 4-of-15 (26.7%) from deep and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line to go along with 33 total rebounds (eight offensive, 25 defensive), eight assists, 20 turnovers, two blocks and 10 steals in the loss.
 
LCU was led by Emma Middleton who went 7-of-13 from the field and 2-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 16 points to go along with 14 rebounds for the double-double followed by Allie Schulte with 13 points. The Lady Chaps went 16-of-52 (30.8%) from the field including 3-of-20 (15%) from behind the arc and 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the charity stripe with 38 rebounds (11 offensive, 27 defensive), eight assists, 17 turnovers, seven blocks and 12 steals.

The Lady Buffs led 21-19 headed into the locker room as they went 9-of-28 (32.1%) from the floor including 1-of-5 (20%) from deep and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe with 16 rebounds (three offensive, 13 defensive), five assists, seven turnovers, one block and five steals. LCU finished the half going 7-of-30 (23.3%) from the field including 2-of-13 (15.4%) from behind the arc and 3-of-4 (75%) from the free throw line with 24 rebounds (eight offensive, 16 defensive), three assists, 10 turnovers, three blocks and three steals.

The Lady Buffs have claimed the third seed in the Lone Star Conference Championship as they will host South Division Champion Texas A&M International on Tuesday at the First United Bank Center in the quarterfinal round with tipoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Canyon.
