Turnovers Doom #5 West Texas A&M in Lawton, 70-60

LAWTON, Oklahoma – The #5 Lady Buffs West Texas A&M committed 28 turnovers on Saturday afternoon as they dropped consecutive Lone Star Conference contests for the first time in over three years with a 70-60 loss to the Cameron Aggies in LSC crossover action at Aggie Gymnasium in Lawton, Oklahoma.
 
Lexy Hightower led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the senior went 7-of-16 from the field including 1-of-5 from behind the arc for a team-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Fellow senior Abby Spurgin finished the game going 3-of-4 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free throw line for 14 points to go along with six rebounds and a block as the Fredericksburg product is now just the second player in program history with 200 career blocks.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the floor including 5-of-21 (23.8%) from deep and 13-of-16 (81.3%) from the charity stripe with 47 rebounds (14 offensive, 33 defensive), 13 assists, 28 turnovers, four blocks and four steals.
 
Cameron was led by Maighan Hedge who went 6-of-15 from the floor including 6-of-8 from the free throw line for a game-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. The Aggies finished the game going 22-of-58 (37.9%) from the field including 5-of-17 (29.4%) from deep and 21-of-26 (80.8%) from the charity stripe with 20 rebounds (six offensive, 14 defensive), 11 assists, six turnovers, two blocks and eight steals in the win.
 
HALFTIME REPORT
The Lady Buffs trailed 39-28 heading into the locker room as they went 9-of-20 (45%) from the field including 1-of-7 (14.3%) from deep and 9-of-12 (75%) from the free throw line with 24 rebounds (eight offensive, 16 defensive), five assists, 18 turnovers, two blocks and two steals. Cameron finished the first half going 14-of-31 (45.2%) from the floor including 5-of-12 (41.7%) from behind the arc and 6-of-8 (75%) from the charity stripe with six rebounds (two offensive, four defensive), seven assists, three turnovers, one block and six steals.
