CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M had a strong showing at Day One of the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi held at the Mountain Lion Fieldhouse hosted by UC-Colorado Springs on Friday.

Gerard Bryant registered 2,949 points in the opening day of the Heptathlon as the sophomore from Harker Height, Texas picked up wins in the High Jump (1.95m) and the 60m Dash (7.04) with three events (60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, 1,000m) remaining.Â

Jayna Lueders, a junior from Randall High School, finished third in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.09m while Chivasso, Italy product
Miriam Zanovello claimed a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.88m in her fifth attempt of the afternoon.

Action continues tomorrow in Colorado Springs beginning with the final three events of the heptathlon starting at 11 a.m. CT followed by field events starting at Noon.
