#22 West Texas A&M Welcomes #6 Midwestern State for Senior Day

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M returns to The Pitch tomorrow, Nov. 6, for the regular-season finale as the No. 22 Buffs host nationally-ranked sixth Midwestern State for senior day.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday in Canyon following the women's match. 
 
The Buffs will honor seven players for senior day prior to the match with Tanner Clements, Stefan Andjelic, Marshall Ball, Eduardo Alvarado, Callum Doyle, Giancarlo Saldana, and Dimitrije Antonijevic.

SERIES HISTORY
The Buffs and Mustangs meet for the second time this season with MSU leading the all-time series 31-21-4.  In their last meeting, WT left Wichita Falls with a 4-3 victory to hand Midwestern State their only loss of the regular season. 
 
SCOUTING #6 MIDWESTERN STATE
The Mustangs come to Canyon undefeated in conference play and 15-1 overall with their only loss coming from the Buffs.  MSU has extended its win streak to nine after defeating UT Permian Basin 5-1 on Wednesday to claim its fourth LSC regular-season championship title while under fourth-year head coach Michael Meachum.
 
Trevor Amann leads the Mustangs offense that has outscored opponents 50-15, with 15 total goals by himself which ranks eighth in Division II followed by Mere Escobar with 10.  Marc-Antoine Huzen has recorded all 15 wins between the post for the Mustangs with a .93 goals-against-average and a .732 save percentage. 
 
BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is in his 31st season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M University.  The Buffs match against UT Permian Basin marked Lauffer's 550th-career victory at WT.  As the longest tenured head coach in WT history, Lauffer has coached the men to 29 consecutive non-losing seasons and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 362-160-39 (.678) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 551-227-56 (.693) overall record at WT.
 
LAST TIME OUT
On Wednesday, the Buffs scraped away another 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian led by scores from Chris Palomino and Ricardo Castillo.  Castillo grabbed the deciding goal in the 73rd-minute to move the Buffs to 12-3-0 overall, 5-2 in conference play. 
 
CONFERENCE STANDINGS
WT stands third in the conference rankings behind Midwestern State (7-0 LSC) and Lubbock Christian (5-1-1 LSC) with the Mustangs posting a conference high 21 points.  St. Mary's sits in fourth with 12 points with a 4-3 mark in conference play followed by UT Tyler (3-4), Texas A&M International (3-4), DBU (2-5), UT Permian Basin (2-5) and Oklahoma Christian (0-7-1)
 
A LOOK AT THE HERD
The Buffs have outscored opponents 39-27, averaging 2.60 goals per match on 16.4 shots which ranks first in the conference including a .443 shot-on-goal percentage.  Giancarlo Saldana has scored a team-high nine goals followed by Stefan Andjelic with eight and Denis Herrera with six while Rotem Weiss paces the offense with six assists.  WT's defense has limited opponents to 9.9 shots per match with goalkeeper Tom Miles recording 10 victories with 33 saves for a .623 save-percentage. 
 
USC DIVISION II TOP-25
West Texas A&M men's soccer moved to 22nd in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top-25 Poll. Young Harris moved atop the national rankings with a 15-0-1 overall record as the last undefeated school in the standings. Palm Beach Atlantic stands second at 12-1-0 followed by Davis & Elkins, Franklin Pierce and Charleston to close out the top five. 
 
LONE STAR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The top six teams will advance to the LSC Tournament based on a points system.  The tournament will begin with quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, November 9 followed by the semifinal and championship matches at the No. 1 seed on Friday, November 12 and Sunday, November 14.
 
COMING UP
