No. 25 Lady Buffs Head to Wichita Falls and Lawton for LSC Action

CANYON, Texas – The No. 25 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs hit the road this weekend for matchups in Wichita Falls, Texas and Lawton, Okla.  WT will face Midwestern State on Friday at 6 p.m. before traveling north to take on Cameron on Saturday at 4 p.m. 
 
MIDWESTERN STATE
MSU enters Friday's match with three victories on the season and a 1-9 record in Lone Star Conference play.  The Mustangs defeated Texas A&M International in the conference opener in five sets but are currently on a nine-match losing streak. 
 
The Mustangs average 14.2 points per set with 11.6 kills, 10.8 assists, 13.9 digs, and 1.5 blocks.  Lauryn Bourne leads MSU's offense with 2.72 kills through 18 matches while Autumn Roach dishes out 5.53 assists.  On defense, Amy DeWait has compiled 260 digs this season for 3.88 per set and Lissette Lefforge with .84 blocks. 
 
CAMERON
The Aggies have recorded a 3-2 victory against Minot State at the beginning of the season at the Washburn Invitational.  Cameron fell to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday night to expand their losing streak to 20 and are 0-10 in conference. 
 
Cameron is hitting just .105 with 9.6 kills and 8.7 assists per set while totaling 141 blocks which ranks third in the LSC.  Arianna Navarrete has collected 185 kills for the Aggies with Noemie Narbonne registering 4.01 assists per set. Jessica Lipkit ranks fourth in the LSC with 62 total blocks. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Buffs claimed a pair of Lone Star Conference victories in week six with a 3-2 comeback win over St. Mary's before defeating St. Edward's 3-1.  WT hit .245 with 129 kills om 368 swings and combined for 122 assists, nine service aces, 196 digs, and 16 blocks. 
 
AVCA DII TOP-25 POLL
For the first time this season, the Lady Buffs are in the AVCA DII Top-25 Poll after receiving votes for seven consecutive weeks.  WT ranks 25th in the standings as one-of-three programs from the LSC that are nationally ranked alongside Angelo State (4th) and UT Tyler (15th). 
 
ALL EYES ON 12
Senior libero Chandler Vogel is on track to break the program's all-time digs record as the three-time reigning Lone Star Conference Libero of the Year looks to shatter the record this weekend.  With 26 digs last weekend, the Hereford product has now compiled 2,396 digs which is just 27 short of Lauren Beville's (2009-12) all-time career mark of 2,423.
 
A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS
The Lady Buffs rank third in the LSC standings at 14-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play.  WT is third in the conference in hitting percentage at .253 with the Lady Buffs average 13.6 kills per set and limiting opponents to hit .109 which is eighth in DII.  As a team, WT collects 12.5 assists, 1.6 aces, 17.4 digs, and 2.4 blocks.  
 
Torrey Miller has a team-high 4.54 points per set as the sophomore averages 4.02 kills followed by Kayla Elliott with 2.41 (pt/s) with a team-high 23 aces and 45.0 blocks.  Junior Sadie Snay paces the offense with 5.70 assists while senior Chandler Vogel records a team-high 4.82 digs. 
 
WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY!
WT has collected 135.0 blocks on the season averaging 2.45 which ranks first in the Lone Star Conference led by Kayla Elliott and Marjani Stanfill.  The two middle blockers have combined for 81 blocks with Elliott standing ninth in the conference leader board at .89 per set.   
 
WT HEAD COACH KENDRA POTTS
Kendra Potts is in her third season at the helm of Lady Buff Volleyball with an overall 46-13 record.  Potts led her alma mater to the South Central Regional Quarterfinals during her first season in 2019 to become just the fourth head coach in program history to guide WT to the NCAA Tournament during their first season.

THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
The LSC champion will be determined by regular season games, while the postseason tournament winner is designated as LSC tournament champion and earns the conference's automatic qualification.  The top 12 teams will qualify for the postseason tournament with the opening round on campus Tuesday, Nov. 16, and the final eight teams at the No. 1 seed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 18-19-20.
 
LSC DIGITAL NETWORK
Fans will be able to purchase a $10 daily pass that will give them access to all football, volleyball and basketball contests on the network that day as well as access to previously aired games from the current season for 24 hours. Fans can also purchase a $50 volleyball season pass that will give them access to all Lone Star Conference volleyball matches.  In addition to live and archived streaming options, viewers will have the option to purchase and download games from the 2021 season for $10 each.

UP NEXT
Following the Lady Buffs matches with MSU and CU, WT will only have six matches left of the regular season before the conference tournament begins.  WT will host a pair of LSC matches on Oct. 29 and 30 against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International.
