Lady Buffs Roll 21 Runs Against ENMU, Outlast LCU 4-3
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M walked away with a pair of victories on Sunday evening to close the LCU Invitational in Lubbock, defeating Eastern New Mexico, 21-7, and Lubbock Christian, 4-3. WT went 3-1 at the round robin tournament to move to 10-7 on the season.
Alyx Cordell recorded two home runs for the Lady Buffs while
Shanna McBroom,
Ruby Salzman,
Sydney Greeson and
Maddie Geidel each had one.

West Texas A&M took control of the game in the first inning and never looked back, registering 21 runs on 18 hits and 21 RBI.
Shanna McBroom set the tone for the Lady Buffs as the senior catcher led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to left. After taking advantage of a fielding error and a walked in run the Lady Buffs sat at a 3-0 lead. With two outs and bases loaded
Maddie Geidel smashed a ball off the scoreboard in left center to clear the bases for her first collegiate home run to make it 7-0.
A single through the left side for
Julie Guzman put a runner on for the Lady Buffs in the second before
Alyx Cordell hit another home run into center field for her third of the weekend.
The Greyhounds would end
Emilee Wilson's shutout with a groundout to the second baseman to bring in the runner from third, but WT immediately responded with seven hits to bring seven runs across the plate to make it 16-1.
ENMU added six runs to the board but was shut down with a strikeout to end the threat. WT worked to get the runs back with five runs on four hits to secure the run-rule victory.
Wilson (1-3) picked up her first career win as a Lady Buff, allowing one run (one earned) on three hits in three complete innings.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Buffs took a 1-0 lead on a fielder's choice to third to score
Alyx Cordell.
Lubbock Christian would level the score in the bottom half of the third with a walked in run but would be answered by a first pitch solo home run to right field by
Ruby Salzman for the Lady Buffs to take back the lead.
After reaching on a fielder's choice,
Shanna McBroom would score on a double to right by
Julie Guzman to make it 3-1 before LCU would bring the score back within one in the fifth.
The Lady Buffs would add insurance to the board with a sacrifice fly ball by
Steph Elliott to score Salzman. LCU threatened the Lady Buffs lead with an RBI single but a forced out at second would end the game giving the Lady Buffs a Sunday doubleheader sweep.
Emilee Wilson (2-3) was credited the victory and allowed three runs on 10 hits with a season-high five strikeouts and three walks.
