CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M cross country teams will compete in their final regular season race on Friday afternoon as they set out to San Angelo for the Blue and Gold Classic hosted by Angelo State.
The women's 6K race is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. with the men's 8K following at 5:45 p.m. at the ASU Intramural Complex.
"We are looking forward to getting to preview the conference course," head coach
Jake Krolick said. "We'll get an idea of the competition level within the conference with Dallas Baptist men and women at this meet as well as a couple other very good individuals."
"We'll know what we need to do when we return to Angelo in two weeks after seeing how things play out this weekend."
On the men's side, the Buffs will compete with a full team for the first time since the LCU College Invitational in late September as they finished third with a total of 76 points.
Innocent Murwanashyaka was the top-runner for WT as the newcomer finished first overall after completing the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 2.6 seconds. Burtaure Rugenerwa finished fourth with a time of 26:30.8 followed by
Arnaud Taki in 13th at 27:43.5.
Caitlynne Speegle and
Maddie Hooker will compete in the women's race for the Lady Buffs.

Following Friday's race, WT will rest next week before returning to San Angelo for the 2020 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships on October 31 (Halloween).
