Lady Buffs Fall to Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – West Texas A&M finished non-conference play on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Oklahoma Baptist at the OBU Soccer Complex in Shawnee, Okla.  The Lady Buffs were outshot 35-7 as they fell to 1-3-0 on the season.

Both teams came out firing from the opening whistle as junior goalkeeper Daniela Estrada made a save in the 3rd minute before Hannah Kelley-Lusk and. Maliyah Mendoza had chances in the opening 10 minutes. Kelley-Lusk would have another chance in the 38th minute but her shot was saved by OBU's Emily Griffith to keep it scoreless at halftime.

The Lady Buffs struggled to create chances in the second half as the Bison scored the only goal of the game in the 68thminute on a Reagan Mann penalty kick. Calista Cordero would record WT's only shot of the second half in the 82nd minute but her effort went over the crossbar as the Lady Buffs were shutout for the second time this season.

Kelley-Lusk finished the game with a team-high three shots, one on-target,  while Estrada's 11 saves are the ninth-most in a single game in program history.
