#6 Buffs Outlast Western Washington in the Home Opener

CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M defeated Western Washington, 1-0, in the Buffs home opener on Friday Night at The Pitch.  WT moves to a 2-1-0 all-time record against the Vikings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
After a scoreless first half WT outshot Western Washington 9-7 with two shots on goal, including Jean-Luc Ramdin's shot on the woodwork in the 28th minute.  The Buffs jumped on the board in the 75th minute as the Vikings registered an own goal from the top of the box to give WT a 1-0 victory.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Colin Burgiel earned his victory of the season, totaling five saves on 13 shots with five of them being on frame to move to 1-0-0 this season.  WWU's Brandon Wolter registered two saves on 11 shots in the Viking's loss.
 
UP NEXT
WT continues action at The Pitch on Monday, Sept. 16, to host Seattle Pacific.  The Buffs and Falcons will meet for the first time since 1999 with the Falcons leading the series 2-0-1.
