PORTALES, New Mexico – The #17 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M have now claimed the last 10 meetings on the diamond against their Highway 60 rival with a pair of Saturday afternoon victories over Eastern New Mexico at Greyhound Field in Portales, New Mexico.

The Buffs and Greyhounds conclude their weekend series tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. CT in Portales.

GAME ONE RECAP:
The Hounds got on the board early in the first inning as Nicolas Ankerman drove a fastball over the left field wall for a leadoff homerun on the first pitch of the afternoon to make it 1-0.Â

The Buffs loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth before a
Tanner Schuetz RBI fielder's choice to tie the game at 1-1.Â

Kyle Kaufman tripled to left center to leadoff the sixth followed by an ENMU fielding error to give the Buffs a lead, the Hounds made a move to the pen followed by a wild pitch that scored
Christian Loya at 3-1. WT added an insurance run in the seventh as
Keone Givens took off from second on the pitch and scored on a groundout followed by a Kaufman RBI single to make it 5-1.

Joe Corbett picked up the win (8-0) for the Buffs, allowing one run on four hits with just one walk and 15 strikeouts in the complete game victory.

GAME TWO RECAP:
The Buffs got on the board first in the nightcap as Givens singled to start the game and would later come around to score on a fielder's choice to make it 1-0,
Cade Engle led off the second with a triple to right center followed by a
Justice Nakagawa sac fly to center at 2-0.

The Hound cut into the lead in the home half of the fourth inning a Paul Tapia doubled down the left field line with one out followed by a Joel Paulino single to right field to score Tapia and cut the lead to 2-1. The Buffs responded in the top of the sixth inning as
Darius Carter connected on a two-run bomb to left center to extend the lead to 4-1.

Darin Cook picked up the victory (5-2) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing one run on five hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in his six innings of work.
Dominic Yearego picked up his 19
th career save as the senior struck out two in the final frame.
