CLEVELAND, Ohio – West Texas A&M ranks fourth in the latest Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings following the conclusion of the men's and women's basketball championships, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
WT accumulated 249.50 points for the winter to go along with 206 points for the fall to move up one spot to fourth. Men's basketball picked up 73 points after winning a school record 34 games and making their second consecutive trip to the Elite Eight while the Lady Buffs picked up an additional 50 points after making their 25thoverall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. WT track & field earned a combined 126.5 points highlighted by the seventh-place finish by the Lady Buffs.
Grand Valley State ranks first with 715 points with Colorado School of Mines in second with 523.50 points followed by Queens (521 pts.), WT (455.50 pts.) and UC San Diego (422.50 pts.). Adams State ranks sixth with 407 points with Simon Fraser (404 pts.), Wingate (388 pts.), Colorado Mesa (380.50 pts.) and Alaska Anchorage (374 pts.) round out the Top 10.
WT has finished in the Top 15 in five straight years, including top five finishes in 2017-18 (third) and 2013-14 (second) while being the "Best in Texas" for six-straight year.
The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
