CANYON, Texas – The #8 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M return to the friendly confines of Wilder Park on Tuesday afternoon as they host the Lubbock Christian Chaps in a South Central Regional Showdown with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. in Canyon.

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The Chaps are guided by 16th year head coach Nathan Blackwood who has led LCU to an overall record of 633-257 with a pair of Heartland Conference Championships since joining the league. During their NAIA run, Lubbock Christian University made four trips to the NAIA World Series under Blackwood's guidance including a National Championship in 2009.

LCU is led offensively by Keaton Greenwalt who is hitting .403 on the season with four doubles and four homeruns to drive in 13 RBI. Ricky Contreras holds a 0.60 ERA on the mound for the Chaps, tossing 15.0 innings of work this season with 12 strikeouts and just one walk.

NATIONAL COLLEGE BASEBALL WRITERS TOP-25 POLL (FEB. 26)
The West Texas A&M Buffaloes dropped six spots to eighth in the first regular-season installment of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Delta State picked up 15 first place votes to move atop of the poll with 488 points followed by Augustana (three first place, 446), Colorado Mesa (443), Illinois-Springfield (one first place, 423), Mount Olive (416), UC San Diego (one first place, 398), Tampa (372), West Texas A&M (370), Southern New Hampshire (351) and Catawba (333) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by Colorado Mesa (3rd), WT (8th), Dixie State (14th), Colorado School of Mines (RV) and Angelo State (RV).

Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native enters his 11th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 333-208 (.616) during his decade in Canyon while registering a career record of 432-275 (.611) in his 13 seasons in collegiate baseball.

Joe Corbett has been named a Division II Preseason All-American by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Buffs were ranked 18th in the country by the publication in their annual Preseason Poll.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
West Texas A&M senior
Joe Corbett was named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year while the Buffs were picked atop of the annual LSC Baseball Preseason Poll announced on Thursday afternoon by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.

The defending LSC Champions picked up 10 of the possible 18 first place votes for a total of 117 points followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (six first place, 106), Angelo State (two first place, 94), Tarleton (76), Eastern New Mexico (51), Cameron (34) and UT Permian Basin (26). Corbett joins
Brooks Trujillo (2016) as the only Buffs to be named the league's Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
