#6 Buffs Host the Cameron Aggies on Youth Weekend at Wilder Park

CANYON, Texas –
The #6 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M return to the friendly confines of Wilder Park this weekend as they host the Cameron Aggies in a four-game non-conference series starting on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Canyon. Fans under the age of 18 will receive $1 admission all weekend at the Buffalo Sports Complex.
 
CAMERON
The Aggies are guided by fourth year head coach Brady Huston who holds an overall record of 85-85 entering this weekend, Huston was hired to guide the Aggies in the Summer of 2015 following one season as the program's top assistant.
 
CU is led offensively by Dillon Turney who is hitting .324 on the season with four doubles and 10 RBI with nine runs scored and 23 hits in his 71 at-bats. The Aggies are led on the mound by Devin Castro who has tossed a team-high 33.2 innings so far this season, registering an overall record of 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA as the lefty has struck out 28 opposing batters.
 
NATIONAL COLLEGE BASEBALL WRITERS TOP-25 POLL (MAR. 12)
The West Texas A&M Buffaloes remained sixth in the first regular-season installment of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Delta State picked up 14 first place votes to remain atop of the poll with 494 points followed by Colorado Mesa (six first place, 479), UC San Diego (436), Illinois Springfield (419), Tampa (402), West Texas a&M (386), St. Could State (382), North Greenville (365), Southern New Hampshire (345) and West Chester (331) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by Colorado Mesa (2nd), WT (6th), Colorado School of Mines (13th), Dixie State (22nd), Angelo State (RV) and Lubbock Christian (RV).
 
WT HEAD COACH MATT VANDERBURG
Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native enters his 11th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 334-208 (.616) during his decade in Canyon while registering a career record of 433-275 (.611) in his 13 seasons in collegiate baseball.
 
COLLEGE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
West Texas A&M senior right-hander Joe Corbett has been named a Division II Preseason All-American by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Buffs were ranked 18th in the country by the publication in their annual Preseason Poll.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
West Texas A&M senior Joe Corbett was named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year while the Buffs were picked atop of the annual LSC Baseball Preseason Poll announced on Thursday afternoon by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
 
The defending LSC Champions picked up 10 of the possible 18 first place votes for a total of 117 points followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (six first place, 106), Angelo State (two first place, 94), Tarleton (76), Eastern New Mexico (51), Cameron (34) and UT Permian Basin (26). Corbett joins Brooks Trujillo (2016) as the only Buffs to be named the league's Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
