She would make her way to third with one out on a single from Lauren Lindgren before Lair buckled down and forced back-to-back fly balls to end the threat. WT would open the scoring in the bottom half of the inning as Cordell singled down the line to plate two Lady Buffs. After consecutive strikeouts, Shanna McBroom singled through the left side followed by a walk by India Holland and hit by pitch by Erica Vessels. Cordell hit a blooper down the left field line to plate McBroom and Holland and make it 2-0.

The Mustangs got one back in the top of the fourth following a one out single to left field by Ashley Turner. Caycee Griffin followed that up with a double to the gap in left center but would go no further as Lair retired the next two batters to keep the Lady Buffs up one. The Lady Buffs would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a pinch hit double to the gap in left from Miranda Grotenhuis to score Holland for the second time in the game.
