WT Battles Back Before Falling at St. Edward’s in Lone Star Conference Action

AUSTIN, Texas – The #16 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M battled back from a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter as they cut the lead to three with a minute left before falling to the St. Edward's Hilltoppers in Lone Star Conference action to snap an eight-game win streak, 64-58 at the Recreation and Convocation Center in Austin, Texas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Abby Spurgin who went 5-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-4 from the free throw line for 13 points to go along with nine rebounds to just miss a double-double, Delaney Nix and Sienna Lenz chipped in 12 points each while Tiana Parker grabbed nine rebounds to go along with six points and three blocks.
- The Toppers were led by Deijah Blanks who went 6-of-11 from the floor including 10-of-11 from the charity stripe for a game-high 22 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals, Charlie Becker and Jazmine Jackson added 11 points each for St. Edward's while Becker dished out a team-high four assists with Sammie Dufek adding five blocks.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 8-of-21 (38.1%) from the floor including 1-of-5 (20%) from behind the arc and 3-of-4 (75%) from the free throw line with 16 rebounds (five offensive, 11 defensive), five assists, 15 turnovers, two steals and three blocks.
- SEU went 13-of-30 (43.3%) from the field in the opening half including 2-of-8 (25%) from deep and 1-of-3 (33.3%) from the charity stripe to go along with 15 rebounds (seven offensive, eight defensive), six assists, nine turnovers, three steals and a pair of blocks.
 
SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 22-of-55 (40%) from the floor including 3-of-12 (25%) from deep and 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line with 38 rebounds (16 offensive, 22 defensive), 12 assists, 26 turnovers, 10 steals and seven blocks in the loss.
- The Hilltoppers went 22-of-54 (40.7%) from the field in the game including 3-of-12 (25%) from behind the arc and 17-of-22 (77.3%) from the charity stripe with 30 rebounds (12 offensive, 18 defensive), nine assists, 19 turnovers, 12 steals and five blocks on the night.

The matchup will take place on the campus of Incarnate Word at the McDermott Center due to graduation ceremonies happening at St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon.
