RESULTS
CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M hosted their first western competition of the season this past weekend, Nov. 2-3, at the WTAMU Horse Center where the competed against North Texas, North Central Texas College, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Schreiner, Texas Tech, Tarleton, Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene.
Much like their first competition of the season, the Lady Buffs dominated earning High Point Team honors on Friday and Saturday led by Kendall Woellmer. The senior was named the High Point Rider during both competitions while Rayleigh Rowell earned Reserve High Point Rider honors on Saturday.
The Lady Buffs picked up four wins on the opening day en route to High Point Team honors with Woellmer taking first in open reining section A and B and open horsemanship. Bailey Summers picked up a victory in Level II Horsemanship with Katelynn Hollister winning rookie horsemanship.
During Sunday's competition, Woellmer completed the weekend sweep with wins in opening reining section A and B and open horsemanship. Kristin Hamilton was the top rider in level II horsemanship while Savannah Rampy and Madelyn Cope won Level I Horsemanship. Delaney Oltman (beginner horsemanship) and Catie McCharen (rookie Horsemanship) also finished first in their respective events.
The Lady Buff Hunt Seat team finish the fall portion of their schedule with a competition on Nov. 23-24 in Mansfield, Texas.
