CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs saw their five-match win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they took the opening frame before falling in four sets to the Pioneers of Texas Woman's to conclude Homecoming Weekend at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
Lindsey Smith led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs with 17 kills on 34 swings with seven attack errors to hit .294 on the afternoon followed by
Selena Batiste (15) and
Torrey Miller (14) in double-figures,
Sadie Snay paced the WT offense with 21 assists to go along with 12 digs for a double-double while Miller and Vogel had 26 digs each. The Lady Buffs hit .163 as a team with 58 kills on 166 swings with 31 attack errors to go along with 56 assists, four aces, 99 digs and seven blocks in the loss.
Trixie Oche finished the afternoon with 10 kills on 31 swings with just three attack errors to hit .226 followed by Elizabeth Ugbaja with nine kills, Katy Ranes dished out a team-high 19 assists while Bailey French tallied 24 digs in the back row. The Pioneers finished the game with 39 kills on 162 attempts with 19 attack errors to hit .123 with 37 assists, four service aces, 67 digs and 15 blocks in the win.
The Lady Buffs hit the road for Lone Star Conference action next weekend as they step back into divisional play at Lubbock Christian on Friday night (6 p.m.) followed by a Saturday showdown with rival Angelo State (12 p.m.) in San Angelo.
