Buffs Fall 4-0 to St. Edward’s on Thursday Afternoon

AUSTIN, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team lost in a 4-0 shutout by St. Edward's in a Lone Star Conference matchup on Thursday afternoon.  The Buffs now fall to 5-5-1 (1-3-1 LSC) this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SEU grabbed the deciding goal early in the first frame as George Murray found Michalis Clark in front of the goal to give SEU a 1-0 lead in the third minute.  The Buffs looked to even the score as sophomore Liam Doyle's shot was saved by Kellen Gullion to preserve the Hilltoppers lead. 

Murray doubled the Hilltoppers lead off a free kick from Cody Spitzer before SEU took advantage of a three-goal lead in the 55th minute.  Junior Francesco D'Aulerio had a shot-on-goal chance to get the Buffs on the board but was denied by Gullion.  Zachary Welch took the corner in the 65th minute for WT as Peter Ngoyi's attempt was shot wide.  The final goal of the match came in the 83rd minute to secure the Hilltoppers victory.

Eight Buffs recorded shots in the match led by D'Aulerio with two shots, both of them on target.

Kellen Gullion picked up his first win of the season for SEU with five saves on 10 shots.  Alexander Vencel finished the afternoon with six saves on 16 shots.   

UP NEXT
The Buffs will play another game on the road before returning to The Pitch as they head to Dallas for more Lone Star Conference action against Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon.  The Buffs are 11-0 against the Patriots since their first matchup in 1992.
