#22 Buffs Fall 3-1 to St. Mary's
CANYON, Texas – Freshman
Beau Johnson recorded his first collegiate goal as No. 22 West Texas A&M fell to St. Mary's, 3-1, in Lone Star Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Canyon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
West Texas A&M outshot St. Mary's 20-12 in Saturday's loss. The Rattlers opened the game in the 24
th minute as Jesus Valenzuela found Ollie Wright for the game winning goal to take a 1-0 lead over the Buffs. StMU added another goal to the board in the 38
th minute to lead 2-0 at the half.
The Buffs looked for a chance to cut the Rattlers lead as junior midfielder
Zachary Welch shot for the net off a corner kick from
Jorge Callejas but his shot went over the crossbar. St. Mary's would have another opportunity in the 68
th minute when the Rattlers scored from the penalty spot. Freshman
Trevor Carpani made his collegiate debut as he set up the goal to find
Beau Johnson in front of the goal to put the Buffs on the board in the final minute of the game.
Francesco D'Aulerio had a game-high four shots with
Liam Doyle adding three of his own.
Alexander Vencel recorded the loss with three saves.

The Buffs will next travel to Portales, N.M., to look to complete the season sweep against Easter New Mexico on October 17 before they head to Dallas to face St. Edwards on October 19.
