CANYON, Texas – Khaline Jacob and Calista Cordero scored as the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M opened Lone Star Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Texas Woman's on Friday night at The Pitch. Courtney Dippel also picked up her fourth shutout of the season as the Lady Buffs improved to 6-1-0 and 1-0-0 in conference play.

Much like they have done all season, WT got off to a hot start with Hannah Kelley-Lusk recording three shots in the first 15 minutes of the game They continued to control the possession for a majority of the first half until Jacobs scored for the third consecutive game in the 44th minute. The junior used her speed to beat a TWU defender before showcasing her footwork to beat the keeper to make it 1-0 a minute before the halftime whistle.
WT recorded the first three shots of the first half before Dippel was called into action to make a save on Libby Murphy's shot in the 61st minute. The Pioneers continued to push numbers forward for an equalizer but it was the Lady Buffs who would strike next to make it 2-0 on Cordero's goal in the 70th minute. The sophomore beat her defender to Khadidra Debesette's cross right in front of goal for her second of the season matching her total from 2017.
Kelley-Lusk had a chance to make it 3-0 just four minutes later but TWU's Jazmine Maxwell made two point-blank saves to keep the visitors within two. The Pioneers best chance to get one back came in the 79th minute but Dippel had no problem with Lauren Bradford's header in the box.
Kelley-Lusk recorded a game-high seven shots, three of those on-target, while Dippel made three saves en route to her sixth win of the season.
