CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M senior forward
Julio Vargas registered his second hat-trick of the young season as the Buffs scored five goals in the opening half for the second straight contest on their way to a 6-0 rout of Southern Nazarene on Monday night at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas.

The Buffs got on the board first in the seventh minute as
Callum Challinor continued his hot start to the season as the Sedgfield, England native found the back of the net on a header from
Cameron Walker for the early 1-0 lead. WT continued their streak of scoring in bunches just over a minute later with a one-on-one goal by Vargas from 10 yards out on a pass from
Lucca Lima to make it 2-0.

WT added to their lead in the 18
th minute as
Reece Schattle registered his first goal of the campaign from 10 yards out off a pass from
Stefan Andjelic. The Buffs weren't done yet as they added to their lead in the 21
st minute as Vargas struck again, this time from 15 yards out from Challinor to make it 4-0. The Buffs would take a 5-0 lead into the locker room for halftime as Challinor finished his second goal of the night with a header from Vargas from 10 yards out.

Vargas would cap-off his second hat trick of the season early in the second half as the senior rebounded a Challinor shot off the crossbar and finished from five yards out to give WT the dominating 6-0 lead. That's more than
Colin Burgiel would need as the redshirt freshman registered two saves on six shots to move to a perfect 3-0 on the season.
