#23 Buffs Battle to a 2-2 Draw with Eastern New Mexico at The Pitch

CANYON, Texas – The #23 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M held a two goal lead with 30 minutes remaining but the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico battled back with a pair of second half scores to leave Canyon with a 2-2 draw in Heartland Conference action at The Pitch on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon.

The Buffs started off the scoring in the 18th minute as Lucca Lima connected from almost 20 yards out with a strike to the far post for the early 1-0 lead, Lima struck again in the 38th minute as Ivan Ulloa found the junior with a long pass to make it 2-0.
 
The Hounds wouldn't go down without a fight as they got on the board in the 60th minute as Gregory Franusic registered his second goal of the season followed by a Gabriel Peres score in the 80th minute off an assists from Craig Brand and Julian Trapp to tie the game.
 
WT headed to overtime for the second time in three days as the two teams traded numerous chances in the pair of overtime periods but none could find the back of the net as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Colin Burgiel registered five saves on 16 shots faced in goal for the Buffs.
 
UP NEXT
The Buffs return to Heartland Conference action next weekend as they hit the road starting on Thursday night in Edmond, Oklahoma as they take on the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian starting at 7 p.m. followed by a Saturday showdown at #4 MSU Texas.
