CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs continue a Lone Star Conference road swing this weekend as they wrap-up the first half of league action in DFW as they take on #21 Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's.

TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The #21 Lions enter the week with an overall record of 14-4 with a 6-2 mark in league action following road wins over UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico last weekend to run their win streak to seven matches.

TAMUC is guided by ninth year head coach Craig Case who has become the longest tenured coach in program history with 144 career wins to rank second in school history.

The Lions are led offensively by Jaslyn Wacker who has registered 188 kills (2.61/set) on 468 swings with 79 errors to hit .233 on the season, Rylie Fuentes paces the Commerce offense with 375 assists to average 5.43 per frame while Savannah Rutledge leads the way defensively with 298 digs (4.14/set).

TAMUC enters the weekend with 1,006 kills on 2,579 attempts to go along with 423 attack errors to hit .226 offensively as a team with 946 assists, 87 service aces, 1,128 digs and 152.0 total blocks to average 2.10 per frame so far this season.

THE SERIES VS. TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
Friday night will mark the 55th overall meeting between the Lady Buffs and Lions dating back to the 1981 season as WT holds a 40-14 advantage while the Lions have claimed the last two meetings. WT is 13-8 all-time in Commerce.

LAST MEETING
The Lady Buffs claimed the first set but a powerful Texas A&M-Commerce team responded with timely kills to go along with 16 total blocks as the Lions topped WT in four sets during Lone Star Conference action in the 2017 regular season finale at the TAMUC Fieldhouse.

The Lady Buffs hit .129 as a team with 46 kills on 171 swings with 24 errors to go along with 46 assists, five aces, 74 digs and 10 total blocks on the afternoon.

TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Pioneers enter the week with an overall record of 11-7 with a 3-5 mark in league action following road losses to UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico last weekend.

TWU is guided by second year head coach Jeff Huebner who came to Denton from Middle Tennessee State where he served as the Interim Head Coach.

The Pioneers are led offensively by Maggie Pyles who has registered 211 kills (3.01/set) on 533 swings with 79 errors to hit .210 on the season, Kate Ranes paces the TWU offense with 699 assists to average 10.75 per frame while Bailey French leads the way defensively with 378 digs (5.40/set).

TWU enters the weekend with 908 kills on 2,778 attempts to go along with 419 attack errors to hit .176 offensively as a team with 849 assists, 89 service aces, 1,158 digs and 126.0 total blocks to average 1.80 per frame so far this season.

THE SERIES VS. TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Lady Buffs and Pioneers will battle for the 53rd overall time on the volleyball court on Saturday afternoon in Denton dating back to the 1980 campaign as the Lady Buffs have won the last four meetings. The Lady Buffs are 15-4 all-time at Kitty Magee Arena.

LAST MEETING
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up a huge regional win and reached the 20-win plateau for the 33rd time in program history as they topped the Pioneers of Texas Woman's in four sets at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton during Lone Star Conference action.

The Lady Buffs hit .244 as a team with 65 kills on 168 swings with 24 attack errors to go along with 63 assists, three aces, 84 digs and eight total blocks in the win.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships. "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 472-77 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.2%.

WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach
Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC Coach of the Year, is now in his 10th season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 403-101 (.802, 13th year) including a 267-81 (.771) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

2018 LSC PRESEASON POLL
Angelo State picked up eight of the possible 30 first place votes for a total of 304 points to sit atop of the poll followed by the Lady Buffs who received 10 first place votes for a total of 282 points. Tarleton ranked third with 277 points (seven first place) followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (four first place, 263), Texas Woman's (197), Texas A&M-Kingsville (191), Eastern New Mexico (133), MSU Texas (100), Western New Mexico (98), Cameron (80) and UT Permian Basin (one first place, 55).

THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
The Lone Star Conference will feature 11 volleyball playing institutions for the third straight season as each team will play a one-conference double round-robin scheduling model, in which each team plays a home and away match against each of the other teams for 20 LSC contests.

West Texas A&M junior setter
Selena Batiste continues to make her way up the program's all-time assists leaderboard as the Portland, Oregon native joined the 2,500 Assist Club on Saturday, September 22nd in a sweep of Western New Mexico in Canyon. Batiste enters the week with 2,534 career assists to rank eighth all-time in program history as she sits 170 assists behind Wendy Ward (1994-95) for seventh place.
